A29er wheel up front is all business–providing high speed stability and better obstacle clearance–while a 27.5 in the back brings the party–with more maneuverability and faster acceleration. If you’re a shorter rider or
650bvs 29 comparison overview 650b Review  Also known as the 27.5-inch wheels, these rims strike a balance in performance between the 29er and the 26-inch wheels. This is because it possesses benefits related to both the 29-inch and 26-inch wheels.
Thebottom of a 26" wheel is pointier than a 27.5". On a lot of soft or low-traction surfaces, this makes a big, big difference. I once did a bike ride with some dudes who were riding 4" fat bikes. We were booting along and came to a wet wooden bridge. I crossed it fine on a 26" bike with 2.3 tires. 29 is the same as 29, 28, and 700C (ISO 622) but the rim width might preclude running narrow road tires. 27.5 is the same as 650B (ISO 584). A 30mm internal width rim can run a tire from 2.2 to 2.8 with decent tire profile, though not optimal for either. There are plenty of very fast tires in that size range. The27.5 is smaller diameter side by side but rolls over rocks and roots better because of the compliance of the deeper sidewall. I feel the 27.5+ is much funner for everyday trail riding and especially technical section. Where the 29r still has the edge on speed in non technical XC situations.

29 is a standard road wheel sized 622 mm. Known as 700 C. Differences in diameters, in cm, between standards are the following: 26″ [2.5 cm] 27.5″ [3.8 cm] 29″. So a substantial difference is between the

Ithink you may have misinterpreted what you read as the benefit being greater wheel diameter (making it theoretically easier to roll over objects) compared to a 26" tire with a similar width tire. Great article on 26" VS 27.5" VS 29" Rememberthat this is not a perfect cross-section of all riders in the world. Is was an Instagram poll, and since the narrator is in the UK, there may be some UK bias in the results compared with the number of USA riders and other countries voting. Skip if needed to around the 4:50 mark on the lower video. 8625 chose 27.5; 5144 chose 29. Adifference of one-and-a-half inches can start a war. That’s the wheel diameter difference between 27.5″ Not long ago, bikers didn’t have any choice in the case of wheel sizes—26 inches was the only option available. But as the 29- and 27.5-inch wheels hit the market, a serious debate amongst bikers started and has continued ever HiJohn. The wheel size referred to as 29″ or as a ’29er’ on modern mountain bikes is in fact an ISO 622 wheel. The name is due to the outside diameter of a mountain bike tire mounted on that rim being approximately 29 inches. This is the same reason an ISO 559mm rim is called 26″, even though 559mm is nowhere close to 26 inches.
Unpopularopinion: there's not much difference between 27.5 and 29 Sure there's a difference, but it's not such a big difference as some make it out to be There were 29ers back when almost every bike was still 26. I remember riding with guys on 29er single speed hardtails back in like 2005. Reply reply more replies More replies. More replies.

26vs. 29 Mountain Bike. The 26 and the 29 are easily the best mountain bikes on the market, but before you choose one over the other, you need to bear in mind important considerations like the traction, speed, and the bike’s performance over uneven, rocky, and stumpy trails. To this end, the 29er is more effective in mountaineering than the

Incontrast, larger 29-inch wheels provide better stability, especially on smoother, open terrain. Acceleration and Momentum: 27.5-inch wheels accelerate faster due to their reduced weight, while 29-inch wheels maintain momentum better, resulting in a smoother ride over obstacles and improved endurance.

Whileoffering a better ride over obstacles over the 26” mountain bike, the 27.5” is still not as forgiving when compared to the 29” While possessing a better

2629 is the muni sweet spot, 36 with shortish cranks and a brake is what you want for covering distance on road. A road tire on the smaller sizes doesn’t make a whole lot of sense unless you are commuting amidst pedestrians and need the maneuverability. The difference between a 29 and 36 is night and day for road use.

Nowthe thing is 27.5+ which is basically the same dia as 29er. People are just resistant to change. I think if your coming into mtb fresh you will love it, if your coming from a old 26 then maybe the jump is too big so people want to go 27.5 for a while, then they will eventually be more comfortable jumping to a 29. .
