Like marshmallows. These are cushioned, but not squishy like the oofos. They are more structured and feel like they'll last a lot longer. If you are familiar with hokas, you can expect the same kind of feeling from the Hoka recovery slides. Curious how you knew it was time to retire your pair of oofos.
On a scale of 1-10, I give the Hoka Solimar a solid 8.5. It might sound low given the glowing review I gave, but I wish I could run longer distances in these. Sadly, due to the thinner sole, I
Upper Support. Structured Adaptable. Ben Overall Score: 8.5/10. Having liked the earlier model, I was happy to try out the HOKA Gaviota 4 for several weeks. The cushioning makes these ideal candidates for recovery days and long runs. In addition, the Gaviota 4 has enough energy return to be used for a slower workout.
Hoka Rincon 2 is a max-cushioned daily trainer that is ready for all kinds of runs: easy, fast, and long. But it is also a surprising shoe. It looks bulky, like most Hokas, but its weight is really where it shines. At about 7.7oz for a men size 9, it comes close to the elite race shoes like Nike Vaporflys, at less than half the price.
The new balance more V3s are an excellent alternative but skew a little between a Clifton/ Bondi replacement. The new balance 1080 is a reasonable alternative if wanting to replace the Clifton but maybe skew faster. Both are far more durable ( like double the miles)than the Hoka alternatives but the ride is not quite as sweet

I hear plenty of great things about Hoka and know many people love them. I tried the Arahi 3 while training for a marathon and loved them for the first ~25 miles on the shoe but from then on have had a pretty negative experience. Mine rubbed blisters on runs longer than 8 miles and caused foot and heel pain.
T3 Verdict. The Hoka Mach 5 is a brilliant update over the fan-favourite Mach 4. It inherited the softer and more responsive PROFLY+ foam from the Mach Supersonic and added a stripped-back creel
My 1st hoka was Clifton6. I reached 1200km in that, doing 5k to 26k runs. The C6 has been retired and its successor is my Rincon3. Its like a light version of C6 , already 500km n still going strong 👌. /i have other road running shoes that overlaps as i like to run in diff shoes every outing (ie Rebel3, Nova1) 👌.
Best. WhatEvery1sThinking • 2 yr. ago. Clifton 6 - 500km before using them as work shoes. Rincon 2 - 700km, however they probably died at around the 500km mark. My last~15 runs in them the shoes basically had turned into bricks and I was putting myself at risk of injury. So I'd say 500km for a pair of non-trail, non-racing Hoka's.
Brands: I've tried a lot of brands in my seven years of Running and I can honestly say that don't stick to one brand since every shoe model will feel different. My last two brands are New Balance (three pairs,Road), Newton (two pairs,Road) and I'm now using Hoka One One (two pairs,Road) and Brooks Caldera (Trail/Mountain).

Walking Lover. CdS from Leon to Santiago, June 16, 2016 to June 30, 2016. I am considering possibly using Hoka One One trail runner type shoes for my June Camino on the Le Puy. Has anyone out there used these, and if so, how did they hold up? I hear they are great for plantar faciatis, which I do not have.

Thoughts on Hoka trail shoes for backpacking and/or trail running. Anyone hike/backpack/trail run in Hoka One One’s I would love to hear your thoughts! Thinking about the Kaha’s or new Anacapa’s for a new trail shoe. Also considering the low ones so I can run in them too. I have pretty strong ankles so not as concerned about ankle strength.
Heavy Supination: Hoka Gaviota. Saucony Omni. Brooks Addiction. Start out with the Light to Moderate category and if that isn't working, move onto the Hoka Gaviota. If that still isn't good, then it is time for the big and hard boys. r/RunningShoeGeeks.
It’s also interesting to know that while Brooks mainly sticks to running and a few walking shoes, Hoka makes casual shoes, recovery sandals, and hiking boots. History Hoka. Hoka began as Hoka One One in 2009. It was created by two trail runners, Jean-Luc Diard and Nicolas Mermoud.

Hoka OneOne Clifton 5 Review. Review. This past weekend I went to the running store to get fitted for some shoes since I've decided to do a half later this year. People at the store were great. They had me try a bunch of different shoes and use the treadmill. Settled on the Hokas.
Initial impressions - to be honest, one of disappointment. Despite all the rave reviews on YouTube and so forth, they don't feel anything special to me. They're neither super-cushioned nor super-responsive. Just very very average. I'm not getting much pop or bounce. They feel soft under foot - a bit like running in sand, but in a bad way.
